Backflow Testing & Certification

New Brunswick municipalities require annual backflow testing for most commercial properties and many multi-unit buildings. Bates is certified to test, repair, and install backflow prevention devices, and we handle the paperwork.

Protect Your Water Supply

Backflow occurs when contaminated water reverses direction and enters the public water supply. Prevention devices, reduced pressure zone (RPZ) assemblies, double check valves, and atmospheric vacuum breakers, stop this from happening, but only if they are properly installed and tested regularly.

Most New Brunswick municipalities require annual testing and certification of backflow prevention devices for commercial accounts, restaurants, car washes, medical facilities, and multi-unit residential buildings. Failing to certify can result in water service disconnection. Bates handles testing efficiently, submits results directly to the municipality, and provides your certificate of compliance.

What Happens During a Backflow Test?

1
Visual Inspection

We inspect the device for visible damage, corrosion, or improper installation before beginning the test.

2
Differential Pressure Test

Using calibrated test gauges, we measure differential pressure across the check valves and relief valve to verify each component meets code thresholds.

3
Repair if Required

If the device fails, we repair or replace it on the spot where possible so you can pass testing in a single visit.

4
Certification Submitted

We complete the test report, provide you a copy, and submit results directly to your municipality.
